  • CLEARFIELD (Deseret News) — Davis County is one step closer to having a new senior center in Clearfield.

    And it looks like the county is going to get it for about $300,000 less than officials had expected.

    County commissioners received 17 bids Tuesday from contractors to build the 14,831-square-foot building, which will take the place of the aging Heritage Senior Activity Center, located in Clearfield's former city hall.

  • CLEARFIELD (Deseret News) — The City Council unveiled Clearfield's vision for the next decade, a decade expected to bring economic development, high-income housing, more police officers, innovative park amenities and a walkable, vibrant downtown.

    The posters, banners and logos have been up for a year announcing Vision 2020.

    And a committee of residents, business owners, planning commissioners and other stakeholders has been meeting monthly during that time to create a document that can guide plans for the city over the next 10 years.

  • CLEARFIELD (Davis County Clipper) — “Great things can be accomplished” when working together, said County Commission Chair Bret Millburn, just before ground was turned for the new county health building Tuesday.

    Under overcast skies, county officials joined with their counterparts from the City of Clearfield in marking the official construction start. The 45,000 square foot, three story building is being built in downtown Clearfield.

  • CLEARFIELD (Deseret News) — Within 10 months, the Davis County Health Department will have some new digs in Clearfield.

    Officials from Davis County and Clearfield broke ground for the 45,000-square-foot building Tuesday at an empty lot located about 22 S. Depot St.

    The site, across from Clearfield City Hall, sits in a blighted area. The project is expected to bring in about 120 jobs.

  • FARMINGTON -- About 118 Layton and Clearfield property owners will receive new property valuation notices within the next week. The reason: A computer glitch erroneously valued properties too high, county officials said.

  • CLEARFIELD (Deseret News) — Davis County is another step closer to building a new health department building in Clearfield.

    Tuesday night, the Clearfield City Council voted to sell 4 acres of land located about 22 S. Depot Street — across from Clearfield City Hall — where the $9 million, 45,000 square-foot building is planned for construction.

    Tuesday's vote means it's now the Davis County Commission's turn to consider the purchase agreement for the five parcels of land, the sale price of which will be disclosed later.

  • CLEARFIELD -- The city is seeking to take out as much as $3 million in bonds to make needed repairs on roadways, especially in the residential areas.
