  • KAYSVILLE (Davis County Clipper) — A funding request to aid in construction of a new fitness center is due to be aired by the Bountiful City Redevelopment Agency, again, next Tuesday. The board, which is made up of the city council, is due to meet at 6:45 p.m., prior to the regular city council meeting, at city hall.

  • KAYSVILLE (Davis County Clipper) — “It was a part of my life that is gone.”

    So spoke a longtime customer of Barnes Banking Company, and Kaysville resident, of the 119 year-old bank’s closure, Friday night.

    As news accounts have widely reported, one of the state’s oldest banks was shuttered by the Utah Department of Financial Institutions (UDFI) and control handed to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).

  • KAYSVILLE (Davis County Clipper) — Barnes Banking Company management is working to raise capital.

    That was among items discussed with stockholders during a special meeting last Friday held at the bank’s headquarters, here.

    “As a result of the discussions, potential sources for increasing the bank’s capital are being pursued in a unified effort between the bank’s management, directors and shareholders,” said Bank Chairman, President and CEO Curtis H. Harris.

  • KAYSVILLE (Davis County Clipper) — A home just adjacent to Kaysville’s City Hall was recently purchased by the city for a use yet to be determined.

    The .38-acre property, previously owned by the Gailey Trust, was put up for sale and offered to the city after the previous owner died some months ago. The council voted unanimously to purchase the property at a recent meeting. The purchase price was $195,000.

  • KAYSVILLE (Deseret News) — Barnes Bancorp., already under the eye of federal regulators, will hold a special shareholder meeting on Friday.

    According to a statement released to the media, the meeting is to give shareholders "current information regarding the bank's financial performance in this economy and the plans for 2010 and beyond."

    Vice president and chief financial officer Douglas Stanger said the meeting is closed to the public and press, and declined to disclose the location. Only shareholders will be allowed to attend.

  • KAYSVILLE (Davis County Clipper) — What many hope will become a gem of green in downtown Kaysville continues to take shape.

    Heritage Park is a four-acre plus plot where the old Clover Club potato chip factory stood for many years.

    The city’s parks department was busy, before the snow flew, replacing what had been basically a big dirt pile with 174,000 square feet of sod – and doing it within only a matter of 1 1/2 days.

  • KAYSVILLE (Deseret News)  — An under-construction Boondocks Fun Center is scheduled to open Nov. 25 in Kaysville, the owners have announced.

    The 55,000-square-foot building will have multiple attractions and the Back Porch Grill Restaurant. The attractions at the center include miniature golf, a pirate ship replica, bowling, laser tag and an arcade. It also will include an event center and meeting facilities.

  • Old Farm at Kays Creek subdivision received preliminary approval from the Kaysville Planning Commission. Now Chad Bessinger, the builder on the development, is waiting for approval from Kaysville City. The development will sit on nearly 37 acres near Phillips Street. The estate-style homes will be built on lots between 20,000 and 73,000 square feet. Financing for the project is not yet firm.

  • The preliminary plat of a 24-lot subdivision at 150 W. 100 South was approved by the Kaysville City Council. John Gailey is the owner and developer for the project. He will build single-family homes on 8,000-square-foot lots.
