Karl Rove speaks at Zions Bank


SALT LAKE CITY (Deseret News) — Karl Rove, former deputy chief of staff and senior adviser to President George W. Bush, is among the speakers scheduled for Zions Bank's ninth annual Trade and Business Conference in May.

The event is set for 8:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 18 at the Downtown Marriott, 75 W. Temple. It will focus on how the current economic climate, demographic trends, world affairs, and government frameworks such as President Obama's National Export Initiative will affect American competitiveness, Zions said Tuesday in announcing event details.

Other featured speakers are Stephen K. Happel, economics professor at Arizona State University; and Joel Kotkin, an expert on global, economic, political and social trends.

During the conference, Zions Bank will also honor the recipient of the "Global Pacesetter" award, presented annually to a Utah company demonstrating international success.
