Fri, 11/13/2009

(Salt Lake Tribune) A Polish government official will discuss economic development in her country on Friday at noon as part of the Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy's lunch forum at Westminster College.

Hanna Jahns, an executive in Poland's ministry of regional development, will talk about the country's transition toward a free market economy in room 134 of the college's Gore School of Business, 1840 So. 1300 East.

She is spending four days in Utah, studying state-government support for small businesses and entrepreneurs, public-private models for investment in economic development and university curriculum for entrepreneurship. The trip was arranged through the U.S. State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program.

During her stay, Jahns is scheduled to meet with the International Trade and Diplomacy Office of the Governor's Office of Economic Development, the Utah office of the federal Small Business Administration, the Economic Development Corporation of Utah (EDC Utah), Grow Utah Ventures and Brigham Young University's Center for Entrepreneurship. She also plans to visit Arches National Park outside of Moab.

The luncheon forum is free and open to all. Participants are being invited to bring their own lunches. Cookies and bottled water are provided.
