Presentation of the St. George airport and Southern Parkway construction
The history of study, site selection and construction of the St. George Replacement Airport has not lacked controversy. The recent announcement that United Express flights to LAX will be discontinued has provided new energy to those opposed to the project.
Additionally, the airport construction is approximately at the midway point, and the first phase of the Southern Parkway will open next week.
The timing for a comprehensive update seems appropriate. The July meeting of the Economic Development Council will feature presentations of the airport and Southern Parkway construction, planning for local roads and land use east of the airport and the design of the Desert Canyons project. The meeting promises to be highly educational and valuable to attendees.
The meeting will begin at 4 p.m., Wednesday, July 8, at the Washington City Community Center, 350 N. Community Center Drive.
