I-15 closure due to standoff expected to last into evening

An 11-mile stretch of Interstate 15 in Washington County was closed for several hours and a school put into lockdown Monday due to a police standoff.
Washington County Sheriff’s Detective Nate Abbott said his office dispatched SWAT members and a negotiation team to the scene and made contact by telephone with the adult driving the car.
He said the man is armed and has two children with him in the car. The trio has remained in their vehicle on the roadway during negotiations, he said.
