A West Valley City woman who left her 8-year-old son behind in a store after she attempted to steal some items will have to pay a $500 fine and complete 20 hours of community service.
Jolie Angelian Ruiz, 28, was charged earlier this month with third-degree felony retail theft for the April incident at a Redwood Road grocery store.
Ruiz pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of attempted retail theft, a class A misdemeanor, and was sentenced this week to probation.
