New fire station should mean shorter response times in Riverton

Riverton residents are losing a corner of their city park, but gaining a fire station.
The Unified Fire Authority recently broke ground on a new Riverton station on property that formerly was a baseball field. The station is expected to reduce response times for emergency calls to less than six minutes.
Once complete, the station, at 12662 S. 1300 West, will serve Riverton’s east side, along with parts of western Draper, said UFA spokesman Cliff Burningham. The 12,717 square-foot facility will ...
