Golden State Warriors general manager Larry Riley introduced Keith Smart as the team’s new coach during a news conference Monday. Smart had been a Warriors assistant for seven years and served as an interim head coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2003, going 9-31. The Warriors bought out the final year of coach Don Nelson’s contract. Nelson guided the Warriors to the playoffs for the first time in 13 years in 2007, but they haven’t returned since.
