State board approves Antelope Island hunt

The Utah State Parks board voted 6-2 Thursday to establish a one-year hunt on Antelope Island expected to generate $200,000 in revenue from wealthy hunters who will likely place high bids to kill trophy mule deer and bighorn sheep. The board voted to issue two permits for each species — one through a public draw and another to be auctioned off to the highest bidder at the annual Western and Hunting Conservation Expo — for a Nov. 15 through Nov. 30 hunt on 26,000 acres of the island.
