13th Habitat house dedicated in Cache Valley

(Herald Journal) "We never want to see another paintbrush again," said Rachelle Sandefur.

The 34-year-old Logan woman and her 9-year-old son, Braydin, had put in dozens of hours painting the inside of their new home on Park Avenue built by Habitat for Humanity of Cache Valley. And they got a little sick of it, Braydin said.

Friends and family of the mother and son showed up to the house Saturday morning to celebrate its completion with prayer and food.

They moved in during late January but before that had put in 250 hours labor helping build the house, mainly by cleaning up the construction site each evening.

The home is the 13th built by Habitat for Humanity of Cache Valley in the area since 1984.

This year has been one for the books, said Habitat President Duane Smith. The group built two houses here and another three in Ghana.

The home equals freedom and privacy for Rachelle and Braydin. Before, they lived with Rachelle's mother.
