Authorities take over credit union
(Salt Lake Tribune) HeritageWest Federal Credit Union of Tooele has been liquidated by the National Credit Union Administration, which accepted Chartway Federal Credit Union's offer to purchase and assume Heritage West.
Each account of HeritageWest's 40,000 members is federally insured up to $250,000, said the national organization, which announced the take over late Thursday.
That means HeritageWest customers will receive uninterrupted service, the association said. The credit union had $311 million in assets. Virginia-based Chartway has 52 branch locations in nine states, plus nearly 4,000 shared locations nationwide. It has assets of $1.2 billion.
