Cache County plans Envision meeting
(Herald Journal) Officials from around the valley will convene next Tuesday to talk about a host of development issues facing their communities.
It’s the latest step in the Envision Cache Valley process, and the meeting will include planners from the county, as well as mayors and councilmembers from the cities.
Josh Runhaar, director of the county’s Development Services office, previewed the meeting — which will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Bridgerland Applied Technology College — in an interview with The Herald Journal.
“The point is to figure out how development is going to affect their communities — if what they’re allowing today is what they really want,” Runhaar said.
Also on Tuesday, officials will unveil the Envision Cache Valley plan, the much-anticipated document compiling growth principles and strategies gleaned in part from a series of public meetings.
Runhaar said the gathering is an opportunity for the county and cities to learn from each other.
“Cities are gonna learn from other cities, both what to do and what not to do,” he said. “And the same with the county — if the county makes a bad decision, the cities can learn from that. We shouldn’t be afraid of a bad decision; we should just learn from it.”
