Cache County tweaks subdivision limits
(Herald Journal) Three years after codifying a ban on all subdivisions greater than five lots in the unincorporated area, the Cache County Council recently approved a new ordinance paving the way for development on a larger scale in the county.
County officials contend the changes — which will take effect Feb. 1 — are designed to make development policies more equitable to property owners, clear the way for clustering and preserve more open space in the process.
The ordinance adopted by the council last week was the result of three years of work by the council, the Cache County Planning Commission and a six-member committee composed of members from both bodies.
“Progress has been made,” said Josh Runhaar, the county’s development services director. “It’s taken a long time for us to get to this point, and some people may think it’s too slow, while some may think it’s too fast.”
