City Hall short-lists six construction firms for Racquet Club contract
(Park Record) Six construction firms have qualified to submit bids for the renovation of the Racquet Club, a City Hall official said, indicating that another seven that showed interest in the project did not advance past the qualification phase.
The six are the only firms that will be considered for the $10.5 million renovation of the Park Meadows athletic facility, said Matt Twombly, a City Hall staffer who is helping manage the project. A committee made of City Hall staffers and consultants working on the renovation in early March determined which firms would be allowed to submit bids.
Afterward, three of the other seven construction firms that showed interest indicated they wanted to appeal their exclusion from the list of qualified firms, Twombly said. The Park City Council was tentatively scheduled to hear at least one of the appeals at a meeting on April 15, according to a tentative list of topics for upcoming meetings.
Twombly said city staffers explained the decision to exclude them from bidding in meetings with representatives of each of the three firms. The three retracted their appeals afterward, he said.
