Fireclay Village project is heating up

(Murray Journal) Representatives from Fireclay Investment Partners met with the Murray City Council and the Redevelopment Agency of Murray to finalize modifications to the Fireclay master plan, a mixed use development which includes a 668 unit apartment complex combined with commercial and retail space.

“There’s still a lot we have to work towards; this design is different than what we’ve seen,” said Tim Tingey, the city’s community economic development director. “From the city’s point of view, it’s important to us [that] there is a mixed use of residential and commercial.”

The first two phases hope to be started next year with the third commercial element the following year. That element will include professional offices and small retail shops meant to complement the residential area.

The property will also be located within one-fourth mile of the TRAX station. One of the changes discussed in the meeting was to eliminate 4235 South Street and replace it with a pedestrian path that would run adjacent to Big Cottonwood Creek.
