Flex Lanes design changes to be explained at January open house

(Taylorsville/Kearns Journal) The Utah Department of Transportation has announced that the environmental and design phases for the Flex Lanes on 5400 South are nearly complete. The project, which will run between Redwood Road and Bangerter Highway, should start construction in the spring of 2010.

In a press release from UDOT, officials stated several changes in the Flex Lanes design were made following public input from an open house held Oct. 20 with local officials and department members.

At the request of Rep. Jim Dunnigan, Rep. Wayne Harper and Senate President Michael Waddoups, another open house to allow review of the design plan will be held Monday, Jan. 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bennion Jr. High, 6055 South 2700 West in Taylorsville.

“UDOT wants to accommodate the public’s suggestions as much as possible,” said Flex Lanes Project Manager Brandon Weston, in the release. “Their participation helps ensure we end up with a quality project that helps address traffic problems in this community.”
