Funding now in place for two West Valley parks
(West Valley Journal) As one of the last items of business in 2009, the West Valley City Council approved the funding to develop two parcels into parks at Arlington Park.
This residential development is made of 34 fourplex units at approximately 4700 South 4800 West. The council allocated $200,000 from the Community Development Block Grant for the parks to be built in this once-problematic area in the city.
Councilmember Carolynn Burt felt this was a fitting project to use this funding.
"We've used CDBG money to clean up [former] Harvey Street and King's Point," she said.
Under the requirements of the Department of Housing and Urban Development, CDBG funding can only be used for projects that impact low- to moderate-income individuals. The council was unanimous this development fit those conditions and would further the council's objectives in cleaning up this area.
