Groundbreaking set for Davis County Health Department building

FARMINGTON (Davis County Clipper) — Ground is due to be broken, next Tuesday, Oct. 20, heralding the start of construction on the new Davis County Health Department building.

Ceremonies will be held across from the Clearfield Municipal Center, 55 S. State Street, at 11 a.m.

Prior to the groundbreaking, the Davis County Commission will meet at 10 a.m. on the third floor of the municipal center, in the council chambers.

“We expect to be in the new health building by next fall,” said County Commission Chair Bret Millburn.

The 45,000 square foot facility will house the Midtown Health Clinic on its main level, as well as administrative offices, including the environmental health division, senior services and health promotion, among others.

“This has been a much-needed building that has taken a lot of time and effort,” Millburn said.

One positive aspect was that bids came in for up to $3 million less than original estimates. The low bid of $5,180,000 submitted by Wadman Corporation of Ogden was accepted during the Oct. 13 county commission meeting.
