Groundwork laid for big future development on west side
FARMINGTON (Davis County Clipper) — County commissioners approved resolutions putting a footprint to what could become a massive 1,000-acre plus business park, retail complex and much more.
But while the land currently lies in the unincorporated county, it’s anticipated all of it will eventually be annexed into West Bountiful and Woods Cross. That will include a lot of cooperation between those two cities and the county, officials said Tuesday morning.
“I applaud (these entities) working cooperatively, the cooperation of two cities and the county. This will bring sustainable jobs,” said County Commissioner Bret Millburn.
The property roughly surrounds the Legacy Highway 500 South intersection, including sections along Redwood Road.
Consultant Jason Burningham of Lewis Young Robertson & Burningham said there are maybe 15 landowners involved but dozens of parcels of varying sizes.
“Everyone (landowners) have been noticed” about inclusion of the property in community development areas, he told reporters.
The plan is to begin construction of infrastructure, roads, curb and gutter, sewer, etc., to make the property “shovel ready.”
“When the Legacy went in that opened up this acreage,” Burningham said. It’s between Legacy and I-15, has FrontRunner access, and is about 15 minutes from the Salt Lake International Airport.
