IHC's Riverton hospital ready to open
(South Valley Journal) Set in the midst of one of Salt Lake Valley’s fastest growing communities, Intermountain Healthcare’s Riverton Hospital (3741 West 12600 South) will open for patient care on Nov. 2. The hospital will serve the cities of Riverton, Bluffdale, Herriman and South Jordan.
Area residents will have a chance to inspect the new medical campus, including the first Primary Children’s Medical Center satellite facility, prior to its opening during a community open house Oct. 23 and 24 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
“This area has been slated for a hospital for more than 20 years,” said Kent Blair, Riverton Hospital administrator. “We’ve worked hard to prepare an outstanding physical facility for the community and I can’t wait to show it off.”
The hospital has been designed with the patient in mind. Each patient room in the 48-bed hospital is private, features large windows and has plenty of space to accommodate visitors.
The women’s area, located on the third floor, is host to nine labor and delivery rooms, two c-section rooms and a 24-bed postpartum unit. The viewing area for newborns has been uniquely designed with graduated steps underneath the windows so siblings can take a look at their new baby brother or sister.
The hospital also features large, maneuverable hallways, 24-hour emergency services, six state-of-the-art operating rooms, full service imaging and diagnostic services, as well as an InstaCare and pharmacy.
