Improvements scheduled for Galena Park

(Draper Journal) Draper residents can look forward to having three new football and soccer fields at Galena Park following the announcement of a $300,000 contract given to WKB Construction for field seeding, a sprinkler system, tree planting and curb and sidewalk construction. The fields will be seeded in the spring of 2010 and will be ready for use by the spring of 2011, according to city Public Works Director David Decker.

In a separate development, the Draper City Council agreed to sell a narrow strip of land in Galena Park adjacent to the Union Pacific railroad tracks to UTA for $381,500. The land acquisition is not related to a controversial potential FrontRunner stop location at the end of Galena Park Boulevard. The Draper City Council has discussed plans for allocating the extra money generated from the sale. Potential projects include adding lights to the football and baseball fields at Galena Park and completing the landscaping and park improvements for the Draper Amphitheater.
