LDS Church to build new temple in Payson

PAYSON (Deseret News) — The 15th temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Utah will be located in Payson at approximately 930 West and 1550 South, on the southwest side of town and a mile from the 800 South I-15 interchange.

Church President Thomas S. Monson announced the new temple plans Monday afternoon.

The temple is expected to ease pressure from the Provo Temple, one of the busiest in the church.

The new temple will serve approximately 22 stakes from Spanish Fork to Nephi, comprising approximately 78,000 church members.

Artists' renderings, the size of the temple, ground-breaking dates and other information will be announced as they become available.
