Legacy Resorts Acquires The Homestead in Midway

The Homestead Resort, one of Utah's most historic all-season resorts in the Heber Valley, has been acquired by Legacy Resorts, LLC.

The new owners plan to maintain the 125-year heritage and country charm of the property with planned enhancements including a new grand entrance, renovation of guest rooms and building structures and increased maintenance of the golf course and surrounding grounds.

"The Homestead Resort is truly one of the West's most unique vacation destinations with natural amenities and an engaging country spirit," said Steve Eddington, co-manager of Legacy Resorts, LLC.  "We plan to continue the time honored tradition of the Homestead's quality lodging, friendly atmosphere, and exciting year-round activities and amenities."

With the acquisition of The Homestead, Legacy Resorts is now the largest private employer in Heber Valley with a work force of 375 people and providing a valuable boost to the local economy. The property has been privately owned and operated by Great Inns of the Rockies since 1986.

Co-manager Dr. Robert Fuller, grandson of the Homestead’s founder said, “The family traditions of the Homestead and the culture created by Zermatt will unite for families and businesses desiring unique one-of-a-kind experiences. This is truly history in the making, continuing a Legacy.”

Located between Park City and Sundance and 45 minutes from Salt Lake City in the Wasatch Mountains, the 155 acre resort offers a broad range of activities for all seasons and easy access to eight of Utah’s ski resorts.

Founded in 1886 by Swiss-born Simon Schneitter, the Homestead Resort is comprised of 121 guest rooms and cottages, 17,000 square feet of meeting space, Aveda Concept spa, two restaurants, 18-hole championship golf course and the renowned 55-foot limestone geothermal hot springs, “The Crater, “ which has become a year round scuba diving sensation with its 94 degree water.
