Making way for a new library

(Daily Herald) A track hoe driven by Gary Lancaster, of Lehi, tears down the old police and fire station in Springville on Monday.

"There's been a lot of firemen come up and ask for a few things out of there," B.D. Jones Construction owner Brad Jones said. "I tell them, 'Go ahead, you guys got a lot of memories in there.' "

The demolition is scheduled to take another two weeks and will make way for Springville's new library. Because it is not a tall building, Jones said the demolition process is rather simple, working from one end to the other. The company will take time to recycle as much of the old emergency building as possible, including concrete and a variety of metals from rebar to copper wiring.
