Mid-Jordan TRAX line over halfway done

(West Jordan Journal) The Mid-Jordan TRAX line is now a little over 50 percent complete, with some portions significantly done.

The area at 5600 West and south into South Jordan is substantially complete, said Gerry Carpenter, Utah Transit Authority representative.

“One of the reasons that is so far ahead is simply because that development is still in process, so we didn’t have to deal with a lot of the things that we have to deal with in developed areas, like moving utilities and those sorts of things. Out there, we can just build it and get it done,” Carpenter said.

One of the advantages of getting that area completed is that UTA will be able to begin testing new vehicles there at the beginning of the year. UTA has ordered 77 low-floor light rail vehicles from Siemens Transportation Systems, which will be used on UTA’s new light rail lines.
