New Highland planning commissioner has wealth of experience
(Daily Herald) Jay Roundy, one of the new Highland planning commissioners appointed on Feb. 2, grew up in American Fork, but has worked in many areas of the United States. As an environmental scientist with both a master's and doctorate degree in the field, he brings a wealth of experience to the job.
Roundy is currently Region Lands Officer for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation over recreation areas such as Flaming Gorge and Lake Powell. He handles lands, negotiations and appraisals for more than 3 million acres in the western states overseen by the bureau.
"One of my recent assignments with the bureau was to acquire the land for 167 miles of pipeline from Uintah County to Diamond Fork in Spanish Fork Canyon. I worked with a lot of people and still consider many of them my friends," he said.
He has been with the Bureau of Reclamation for many years, at one time managing 350 lighthouses on the Great Lakes and Eastern Seaboard while living in Cleveland.
