New library planned for Herriman

(South Valley Journal) Herriman residents are one step closer to having a new county library to replace the 3,000-square-foot one they’ve long outgrown. A ground breaking ceremony for the library, which will be located at 5440 West Main Street, was held July 1.

The 20,000-square-foot building was designed by EDA Architects and is now in the early stages of construction by Okland Construction Company. This will be the fourth home the library has had since it came to Herriman in April 2003. This new site will be part of the planned Herriman Towne Center and will share a large plaza/courtyard area with the new JL Sorenson Recreation Center which broke ground on June 11. The rec center is expected to be complete early next year.
