New planning director joins Salt Lake County

(Draper Journal) Rolen Yoshinaga has been named director of Salt Lake County’s Planning and Development Services Division, which oversees long-range planning and development within the unincorporated county, along with business licensing and code enforcement.

Yoshinaga has more than 25 years experience in public and private industry. He served eight years as CEO of Viranim Technologies, Inc., a Utah-based information technology services company that was ranked in Utah’s Top 100 fastest growing companies for two consecutive years. Before that, he was a Utah State employee for 17 years, including director of information technology for the Administrative Office of Courts. He also served in the administrations of governors Scott Matheson and Norm Bangerter, working with the Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice to facilitate the coordinated use of information technology within the criminal justice system. He previously worked for the Utah State Tax Commission and the Department of Administrative Services.
