Orem City Council approves new hotel
(Daily Herald) After the singing, the council got down to the business of approving plans for Orem's next hotel.
The council first resolved a matter of setback allowances along an access road near 1100 S. Geneva Road. Then the council heard a recommendation from the planning commission that the city approve the site plan for a Holiday Inn Express in the PD-21 zone.
According to Stanford Sainsbury, Development Services director, the site plan met all the requirements of the zone.
"It will be a beautiful building when its finished," Sainsbury told council members. The Holiday Inn Express will be a four-story 120-room hotel. It will not house a restaurant but will provide a typical continental breakfast. It is hoped that a restaurant will be located on the lot directly south of the hotel in the near future.
The council voted to approve the site plan. If all goes according to plan developers will begin building the hotel in the first half of next year.
