Pioneer Crossing project delayed
LEHI (Daily Herald) -- If you thought Main Street traffic was bad in Lehi, wait until late June. At that time, east-west traffic in Lehi along 700 South will be funneled onto Main Street to enable UDOT workers to complete a tiny north north-south leg at 850 East for the Pioneer Crossing project.
Construction work on the new east-west corridor buzzes both east and west of a three-block section in south Lehi that is quiet because of right-of-way purchase delays along Mill Pond Road and 850 East. Those delays have halted most work there.
In a Utah Department of Transportation news release, "from 300 East to Mill Pond there's minimal work in this area."
"The north leg of that intersection has caused a great deal of consternation," Pioneer Crossing Project Lead Jose Rodriguez said. "We are trying to minimize the disincentive by removing the scope of the work for its completion."
The corridor project will move traffic from Saratoga Springs and Cedar Valley to Interstate 15's American Fork Main Street interchange, with the purpose of easing east-west congestion along Lehi's Main Street. Disincentive is a contract provision which compensates the contractor a certain amount of money for each day identified critical work is delayed and set behind schedule.
