Senior complex questioned: Logan director says current center fine, housing unneeded
(Herald Journal) The director of the Cache County Senior Citizen Center says she has “enormous concerns” over a potential project involving a new facility.
Currently, Cache County is considering partnering with a Salt Lake City-based firm in a project that could result in a new senior center and roughly 200 surrounding apartments.
Though discussions are in the initial phase, if the proposal is ultimately adopted, the current center would be demolished, paving the way for a brand new facility.
Director Kristine Johnson admits a new building would be nice, but she said it’s not necessary at this time.
“To me, the building’s fine,” Johnson told The Herald Journal on Friday. “I think we need to think of the senior before we think of the building.”
According to the proposal, the county would contribute the land where the center now sits, and the developer — Rick Plewe & Associates of Salt Lake City — would build the new senior center and construct the apartments.
