Smashburger to open two Utah restaurants

(Salt Lake Tribune) Denver-based Smashburger is set to open two Utah restaurants in August; one at 3513 S. 2700 West in West Valley City and the other at 2100 S. 1028 East in Salt Lake City.

At Smashburger, diners choose either a one-third or half-pound ball of fresh, never-frozen Angus beef, which is smashed flat on a grill and seared to seal in juices. The meal includes butter-toasted artisan buns, real cheese, fresh produce and distinctive toppings, which include haystack onions, guacamole or even a fried egg. Other sandwiches, sides, salads, shakes and root-beer floats also are available.

Smashburger plans to open 10 restaurants along the Wasatch Front over the next few years and up to 60 openings are scheduled nationwide.
