Springdale now participates in the National Flood Insurance Program

The Town of Springdale is now an official participating community in the National Flood Insurance Program.
On April 8, the Springdale Town Council adopted a flood hazard ordinance and passed a resolution committing the town to participate in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). The town subsequently submitted an application for participation in the NFIP. On April 28, FEMA representatives notified the town that the application had been accepted and the town is now officially participating in the NFIP.
This means several things for residents and property owners in the town:
1. You may now purchase government subsidized flood insurance. Flood insurance is available to all property owners in the town, regardless of whether or not your property is in a mapped flood hazard area.
2. The town will be using the most recent Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) and the FEMA flood hazard standards to regulate development proposals in and around the floodplain.
3. The town and property owners within the town are eligible for federal disaster relief in the event of a presidentially declared natural disaster.
Please contact Thomas Dansie in the Town Office if you have any questions about the NFIP or if you would like to see the new flood hazard map (the FIRM).
