Sugar Factory play moves to Midvale
(Salt Lake Tribune) The show will go on, but not at the Sugar Factory Playhouse.
The West Jordan Theater Arts cast and crew of "See How They Run" have found temporary performance space at the Midvale Performing Arts Center, 695 W. 7720 South. The company was forced to relocate after a building inspection showed the Sugar Factory to be unsafe.
Frazzled director Michelle Groves said her phone has been flooded with calls volunteering help. After retrieving the set and costumes, volunteers have been working around the clock to assure the altered set is ready for tonight's opening.
The Sugar Factory will likely remained closed, said West Jordan spokeswoman Kim Wells. The city is looking for other venue options for the performing arts, and is currently considering a temporary "sprung" structure that could later be used for storage. The old Sugar Factory has long been a catch-all for unused equipment, Wells said, including police evidence, Christmas decorations and old computers.
Tickets for "See How They Run" are available at the West Jordan Macey's, 7859 S. 3200 West, and at the door. For more information, visit www.sugarfactoryplayhouse.com.
