Two private schools to occupy Fun Dome building
There have been further developments in the possible purchase of the former Utah Fun Dome property in Murray.
The Murray Journal has learned that an investment group that hopes to open two private schools at the site of the former Fun Dome is under contract for purchase of the property. The group, called Trojan Family Pride, is in the midst of a contingency period for purchase of the property from Utah Buildings, LLC.
Gary R. Nelson of Highland Commercial, Inc., the exclusive listing broker for the property, confirmed that the Trojan group “doesn’t own it, but has the right to purchase it. It is an agreement, and there are still several conditions that need to be met to complete the sale.”
Bob Jones, who is working with the potential ownership group, said it hopes to open two new private schools on the site this fall. The John Locke Academy would be a mainstream secondary school for students in grades 7 through 12. The academy would offer a full range of academic programs as well as field some athletic teams. The second school would be the School for Autistic Healing, geared for special needs students in grades 6 through 12.
Though the deal has yet to close, the potential owners have been on site, making improvements to the inside of the building as well as doing some minor landscaping.
It was previously reported that a group called Prison Watch International had expressed interest in buying the property, but Nelson said it was just one of about “two or three dozen parties looking at the property.” Original Article
