West Jordan Senior Center addition opens for business
(West Jordan Journal) The West Jordan Senior Center opened its new addition with a grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony and reception on Sept. 29.
The addition includes a small office, a large room with dividers and a large open patio. The added space will allow the center to host services in a more professional office space, other than the beauty salon that was previously used. It also allows for more classes to be held, such as a beginner bridge class, Travel Tips for Seniors and Financial Fitness for Seniors. New support groups are also being added.
Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon, West Jordan Mayor David Newton and Shauna O'Neill, Executive Director of Salt Lake County Aging Services, spoke at the ceremony.
“It’s a center that has been growing,” said O'Neill. “There are more people attending now than were attending a year ago. And as the program grows, it gets harder to do a multiplicity of programs and we want to be able to do more programs. So this is going to be a wonderful ability to do the additional programs and additional services that we’d like to have to make this an even better center for seniors who are attending and for seniors who would like to come.”
