WFRC looks at new vision for development in 2040
(Davis County Clipper) In the future the Wasatch Front probably won’t continue to develop the way it currently is, with single family homes and large lots in suburbia.
By 2040, development will likely move back into urban areas, and will be more high-density and mixed use.
That’s what Wasatch Front Regional Council sees happening as the front’s population grows by another 1.1 million.
Wasatch Front Regional Council is the planning agency for five counties: Davis, Weber, Salt Lake, Tooele and Morgan. Planners work with cities and counties to develop plans for transportation and land use.
Four years ago, WFRC contracted with Envision Utah to conduct a study called Wasatch Choices. Building on that initial study, the council is renewing the study and is in the midst of a discussion with the five counties, city planner and the public.
Through March 12, the council is soliciting public comment on how the region should develop. The Wasatch Choices 2040 vision can be viewed at www.wfrc.org, and comments can be offered there as well.
