Work could begin in April on West Hoytsville Road

(Park Record) An overhaul of one of the busiest roads in Summit Park is scheduled to begin in June.

"We have a major reconstruction that we're planning on a portion of Parkview Drive in Summit Park," Summit County Engineer Derrick Radke said.

With a budget of about $350,000, the road repairs will reconstruct about 1,800 feet of Parkview Drive between Parkview Terrace and Aspen Drive.

"We may also add on to the project at the beginning to reconfigure the intersection of Aspen, Maple and Parkview," Radke said. "The project is going to also involve all the water and sewer providers. Everybody needs to do something so we are combining our resources to deal with all the infrastructure needs at one time."

The work could require road closures during the day, he said.

"We'll provide access to people who live there as much as we can," Radke said.

The conditions of the roads are a major issue in Summit Park, said June Krigman, a member of the Summit Park Homeowners Association board of directors.

"Summit Park was built as a summer resort originally, so the roads were never built for year-round use," Krigman said. "They are narrow and they are steep and they are in poor condition."

According to Radke, the roads in Summit Park might be some of the worst in the county.

"All of Summit Park needs major work, but we're just starting with a piece of it," Radke said. "We're going to start with the main drive, which is Parkview. That will take several years to complete."
