Purpose for Appraisals in Utah County Shifted in 2009

OREM -- The number of commercial properties appraised in Utah by Free and Associates during 2009 was slightly less than those appraised in 2008, according to Stan Craft, vice president of Free and Associates.

Utah spent 2009 trying to recover from the blows of the economic recession. Economists and political leaders were hopeful that the housing crisis had bottomed out. Although the real estate industry was slow compared to earlier in the decade, Utah still had its share of growth and development. But Utah also didn’t walk away from 2009 without encountering few crises. Following is Real Estate News Utah's list of important real estate happenings that occurred in Utah during 2009.

Harmons Grocery Announces Two New Stores

FARMINGTON – Harmons Grocery Stores and CenterCal Properties have executed an agreement to build a new 68,015-square-foot Harmons flagship store to anchor the 1,000,000-square-foot Station Park project in Farmington, located at the intersection of Interstate 15, Highway 89, Legacy Parkway and the Frontrunner Commuter Rail.
Locally-owned and operated Harmons Grocery Stores anticipates breaking ground on two new stores in Utah in 2010, including the Farmington location.

Realtors in Utah are organizing the first Utah chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals with hopes that now is the right time and support will be sufficient to sustain the group.

“Right now we have a momentum going,” said Keller Williams Realtor Marcela Montemurro, who is working with Paola Franco, also a Keller Williams Realtor, to organize a Utah Chapter of NAHREP.
